David Egan Guest for Schizophrenia Research Event

The event is staged as a celebration of the creativity and achievements of the human mind - in aid of those whose abilities in such areas are diminished by mental illness.

The event titled 'Spark of Genius' is a very special evening with one clear aim; and that is to raise much-needed funds for mental health research. As Adam Spencer rightly said at last year's Spark of Genius:

"It is crucial that we turn our immense intellectual and technological clout to the question of mental health. It must be our aim to liberate the individuals who have issues with their mental health and thus liberate their families, friends, and carers and our society as a whole."

More than 500 guests will join together for an evening that promises to be remarkable. Remarkable because we are gathering together Australians who are true pioneers in their chosen field of endeavour across the arts, politics, media and sport. Each will be recognised as a 'Spark of Genius'. Each table will have a mystery guest, a 'Spark of Genius' who has given their time to support Schizophrenia Research and highlight the importance of mental health research.

With such tremendous support, 'Spark of Genius' is now set to become a regular fixture on Sydney's social calendar.

Last year's 'Spark of Genius' was an outstanding success and raised over $250,000 towards NISAD's research efforts. It was a rewarding experience for many, with Andrew Denton quoted as saying "That was the best event I've ever been to".
