David Egan's Art

Irish born David is best known for his energetic, figurative, sharp-edged continual line works on canvas. The artist also invents quirky graphic characters in his work with a multitude of personal universes they inhabit.

The multi-faceted nature of contemporary pop culture (fashion, architecture and design) is both an inspirational reference and starting point for David.

"As a professional artist, my aim is to create art that is part of the everyday. If my work inspires people's imagination and activates the creative processes in their everyday life, then I have succeeded."

In David's art there's a strong emphasis on process and technique as a way of amplifying its content. Focusing on specific issues and tying into the issues of the world at large, the work also often offers a wry comment with humour and optimism.

David's 2007 exhibitions are a rich exploration of the human imagination, and each body of work contributes a fresh visual language to society, enriching our experience of art and seeing its connectedness to the 'everyday' more clearly.
